HARTFORD, CT (May 30, 2013) – From the rooftop of East Hartford’s Rentschler Field, the Hartford skyline was barely visible through the clouds, but across the river at the Connecticut Convention Center, attendees of a large training event were boarding coach buses to continue their sessions at the sporting facility.
Last week, the Connecticut Convention Center teamed up with Rentschler Field to host a multi-day, multi-function program for AT&T. “Besides meeting rooms and the ballroom, AT&T needed a large outdoor space for a specific portion of their training”, states Michael Costelli, General Manager for the Connecticut Convention Center. “Utilizing both venues allowed the group to execute a more efficient program. It’s a great option for events that need off-site locations.”
Last week’s meeting is not the only instance of the Connecticut Convention Center collaborating with area venues on major events. In August, the Center will host the USA Gymnastics National Congress and Tradeshow as part of the 2013 U.S. Gymnastics Championships. The facility hosted a portion of the event back in 2010 along with the XL Center and the University of Hartford. This year, the men’s and women’s gymnastics competitions will be held at the XL Center when the event comes to Hartford on August 15-18.
