Is the Connecticut Convention Center wheelchair accessible?
Service animals (i.e. dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities) are welcome at the Center — provided they are leashed or under similar control as appropriate. Owners take full responsibility for their animals.
Where is the Connecticut Convention Center located?
Located in the heart of downtown Hartford, the Convention Center is within a two-and-a-half-hour drive of 23 million people – a demographic fact that rivals only Manhattan. Four major Northeast Interstates converge on or near Hartford: Interstate 90 (Massachusetts Turnpike) and Interstate 95 are located 30 minutes north and south of the city. Interstates 84 and 91 intersect in downtown Hartford. The Connecticut Convention Center is most easily accessible from a dedicated exit on Interstate 91, #29-A, north or south. The City of Hartford combines a vibrant arts and culture scene with a wide variety of nightlife options created by restaurants, bars, and clubs throughout the city’s 17 neighborhoods. Within 3 blocks of the Connecticut Convention Center, there are more than two dozen restaurants and eateries, including an upscale Italian trattoria, Vivo Resturante, at the attached Marriott Hartford Downtown. The most concentrated area of activity is in downtown Hartford, between Union Station and Main Street. Hartford’s North, South and West ends also offer an array of ethnic and upscale dining and nightclub options. Hartford offers a variety of specialty shops, including fine clothing and upscale gift shops, as well as basic conveniences, gourmet grocery, neighborhood and ethnic markets.
Nearby and neighboring towns such as West Hartford, Wethersfield, and Glastonbury offer bustling and quaint town centers that combine historic attractions, fine and casual dining, antiques and high-end boutique shopping. Major shopping outlets within a 10 to 15-mile radius include the Westfarms Mall on the West Hartford/Farmington town line; Blue Back Square in West Hartford Center; Somerset Square in Glastonbury; Buckland Hills Mall in Manchester; and Evergreen Walk in South Windsor. The Bradley Flyer provides quick and easy travel between the airport and downtown Hartford. The trip only takes about 30 minutes and operates approximately hourly between downtown Hartford and all the terminals at the airport, seven days a week for a one-way fare of $1.50.
